Remote Bookkeeper (Practice)

Salary c.£30K – £35K DOE

McKinty Associates are pleased to be working on behalf of a well-established, award winning and growing accountancy practice who have an opportunity for an experienced Accounts professional to join their team. You will undertake a hands-on role providing bookkeeping and Vat services for a mixed client base across many sectors.

This will be a remote position however the successful candidate will be required to travel to Edinburgh several times a year.

Main duties will include:

• Client bookkeeping (Processing Purchase / Sales Invoice, Reconciliations etc).
• Checking that Vat codings are correct so that clients are paying the right amount of Vat.
• Preparing VAT returns for a variety of clients.
• Organising and controlling client records.
• Quality control on the jobs by using checklists and improving them and updating them.
• Responding to client queries and chasing answers to our queries.
• Helping to deliver Xero training to clients and helping set Xero up for new clients.
• Ah hoc duties as required.

Essential eligibility criteria:

• Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable (1 Year plus in Practice).
• Experience of using computerised accounting software (Xero/Freeagent/QuickBooks).
• An IATI qualification (or equivalent).
• Good working knowledge of specific VAT rules for different industries and current legislation.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
• Motivated and flexible attitude.
• Ability to liaise with clients across a range of sectors.
• Team player.
• Keen eye for detail.
• Effective communicator.
